The Cahaba Grand Convention Center, stands on its reputation for exemplary service for its conference and meeting rooms perfectly appointed for both private and corporate events and in proximity to theaters, golf and galleries for some downtime and within walking distance to several reputable hotels and good restaurants.

The rise of the metropolis of Birmingham, Alabama began in the latter part of the 19th century when farmlands started to give way to the construction of a city. Due to the area's iron ore reserves as well as ample stores of limestone and coal, it was a perfect recipe for the iron and steel industry to set up shop and operate at full vigor until things slowed down during the time of the Depression.

Though the city was constructed around the steel trade, only a few thousand jobs remain supported by the industry today. The older, dirtier industry has been replaced by the hospitality and medical fields as a base for financial stability in the area. Transformed, Birmingham is no longer a smoke filled steel town, but offers parks, museums and gardens to enjoy. Also, there is much in the way of our nation's civil history to discover here that makes Birmingham an educational experience for people of all ethnicity.

Known widely for the time Dr. Martin Luther King spent here and wrote his famed Letters From a Birmingham Jail, as just one example of historical Birmingham events, there is a wealth of history in this city for people to come and learn about us as a nation. One such place is the Birmingham Civil Rights Institute found across from the lovely Kelly Ingram Park. This gallery chronicles the stories of Birmingham's tragedies and triumphs along the long road of the Civil Rights Movement through the 50s and 60s. Utilizing film, narration, and poignant photographs to impart to patrons the impact of the heated and emotional times. This impact also promotes reflection on the hard work, sacrifice and suffering of all those involved in those times.

Business, opportunity, beautiful gardens, strong history, good food and accommodations, tours and sites, museums and lots of interesting places to visit. Birmingham is the place to be for 'Bama fun! Definitely a southern city, if you are planning a meeting or with a school or church group, bring a hat to keep the sun off your head and an umbrella for those short lived, steamy afternoon rainstorms.

Lovely weddings, yes, you can have a lavish wedding of your choice, a simple or the southern style wedding here at the Arlington Antebellum Home and Gardens in the parlor or under a gazebo or you can go as cosmopolitan as your little ol' heart desires in one of the upscale hotels just waiting to create a fabulous wedding for you and your guests.
